Epic Fusion with Thanushan Vasanthan

Thanu Vasanthan has joined Epic Fusion as a Modern Workplace Engineer. Previously, he worked as a Systems Engineer at the Federal Office for Information Technology, where his responsibilities included managing the operation of Microsoft Entra ID. This involved areas such as AAD Sync, app registrations, and conditional access policies. With his experience, he brings technical expertise in the identity and cloud environments and has a clear goal: to use technology in ways that make everyday work easier and more efficient.

In this interview, he discusses modern work environments, automation in the workplace, and why technology is most successful when it works for people. He explains how stable and secure solutions are developed and why collaboration with customers is just as important as the technology itself.

Thanu, what is your role at Epic Fusion?

I work as a Modern Workplace Engineer. My focus is on implementing and further developing modern workplace solutions. This involves integrating devices, identities, and applications so that they function reliably, securely, and efficiently.

What do you hope to achieve at Epic Fusion?

I want to be a real asset to our customers and also internally. My goal is to create stable and automated solutions that are innovative and simplify day-to-day work.

From System Engineering to the Modern Workplace.

Thanu holds a Higher Diploma in Computer Science and gained valuable enterprise experience at the Swiss Federal Office of Information Technology, Systems and Telecommunication (FOITT). As a System Engineer, he was responsible for operating Microsoft Entra ID, including core identity services, directory synchronization, app registrations, and security policies. This experience provides a strong foundation for building modern cloud infrastructures.

What excites Thanu most about his work is the practical value of technology. When systems run reliably and processes are automated, people often do not even notice how much technology is working behind the scenes. That is exactly where Thanu sees the true value of modern IT solutions.

What is the most important lesson you have learned throughout your career?

Technology alone is not enough. Customers need collaboration, clear processes, and regular communication to ensure solutions truly work and trust can grow.

How do you envision the workplace of the future?

The workplace of the future will be flexible, cloud-based, and highly automated. Devices, identities, and applications will be managed centrally, while employees can work from anywhere and on any device without having to worry about the underlying technology.

What defines your way of working?

I work in a reliable and solution-oriented way. At the same time, I always try to identify which tasks truly deserve priority and which can be addressed later.
