What is a Microsoft Solutions Partner Designation?

A Microsoft Solutions Partner Designation is Microsoft's official recognition for partners that have demonstrated proven expertise in a specific technology area. In 2022, Microsoft replaced the former Gold and Silver Competencies with the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program, introducing a framework that is more rigorous, transparent, and outcome-driven.

Today, a Solutions Partner Designation is awarded based on three key criteria:

  • Proven customer success: A strong track record of successfully delivering projects for real customers.

  • Certified expertise: Technical excellence demonstrated through official Microsoft certifications.

  • Measurable customer impact: Documented business outcomes and tangible value delivered to customers.

With this framework, Microsoft clearly identifies the partners that consistently deliver results, demonstrate technical excellence, and create meaningful business value.

Microsoft continuously evaluates partners based on customer success, employee certifications, and performance data in Partner Center. There is no one-time assessment. Solutions Partner Designations must be earned and maintained on an ongoing basis.
